“For many people in our country and elsewhere, God is dead.”

When Rabbi Olan stated, “Ours is not the age of religious faith,” he was speaking of 1961. However, his observation is also true in our day. In the past the concepts of morality, religion, and the good life were inextricably linked together. In the modern era this understanding became less common. On December 3, 1961 Olan set out to answer the question: “What did a belief in God mean to our fathers, and what is its relevance to the lives of those today who affirm it as their faith?”
