“The emphasis today is on the common man, not the uncommon.”
In March of 1970, Rabbi Olan noted that informality in dress and in other areas of life was replacing long-established norms of respectful social formality. In some ways, this was good. It was a democratizing move. In other ways, it was a troubling trend.
Be sure to tune in to Rabbi Olan as he reflects on the value of individual uniqueness, personal fulfillment, and society’s need for uncommon, truly remarkable people to serve as change agents.
“Ours is the task to fulfill all the possibilities which are born with us. If we allow each man the chance to fulfill the best within himself, we shall come very near to the Kingdom of God.”
