“The whole idea of moral principles is rejected by many people today.”
In his February 22, 1970 radio sermon, Rabbi Olan lamented the “moral anarchy” of his day. He proposed that this problem was caused by the absence of authority. If people do not respect the authority of parents, their faith community, and the state, we are in trouble. The individual becomes the sole arbiter of right and wrong, doing whatever seems to be in their own best interest. No one can tell me what to do! Thus Olan arrived at his named focus: extra-marital sex. And he added some thoughts on pre-marital sex, as well.
