“Biblical faith is rooted in the mysterious.”

This sermon of October 24, 1965 by Rabbi Olan focuses on the mystery of life, because, as he notes, “life is more mystery than fact.” Sometimes it may feel like humans have discovered everything there is to know, but as we look at history, this is quickly proven false. Scientists thousands of years ago never could have imagined that we would explore space, just as two thousand years from now, our descendants may be breaking barriers in ways we never could have conceived of in our present. Rabbi Olan points out that “Biblical faith in rooted in the mysterious” and in fact, that’s what life is all about. The only secret that has been revealed to us is that sharing love is what binds this whole crazy world together.
